My Favorite 993 related Web Sites

Sources of Technical Information:

Parts & Service Vendors I have used:
  • Pelican Parts is a good source of  Porsche branded service parts and also, at a lower cost, parts from the suppliers to Porsche and third-party part suppliers. I buy parts that are normally only available through the dealer here.
  • https://www.bergvillfx.com Here is Tore's website of definitive & comprehensive information on 964 & 993 HVAC including diagnostics. It also lists for purchase hard-to-find audio cable and wiring parts, OBDC stuff, and CCU servicing & repair items.
  • Specialized ECU Repair, sometimes referred to as ECU Doctors. These folks repair and modify the Bosch Motronic ECU and other controllers for our cars. They also are the only maker of an aftermarket remote entry fob that is a compatible update to the ones that came with the 993 alarm/immobilizer.
  • Sunset Porsche is a dealer that at times is very competitive on part prices for dealer-only parts. They also offer special kits and hard-to-find parts. I use them when price shopping for more expensive parts such as bumper covers.
  • Partisan Parts rebuilds HVAC servos, there are five of them in a 993. The servos are prone to failure. If you are located in Europe one can send their servos in to get rebuilt with all new internal parts including the motor. If you are in the Americas they offer DIY rebuild kits that are kitchen table projects to install. The kits are not listed on their website but if you make an email request you can purchase the kits from them.
  • Cold Hose, These folks fabricate Air Conditioning hoses, I have not used their service but when one is needed it is good to have someone to call.
  • Dual-Distributor Servicing. One source of rebuilding that has proven to be reliable:
    • Mark Cohen at markc123@bellsouth.net, phone:770.365.1601
Be aware that sourcing and properly installing parts for the Bosch Dual distributor can be a challenge and folks have had functional and durability problems with rebuilt distributors processed by other than the above resource. Hopefully, in the future I will be able to add other qualified sources for this type of work to this page.
  • https://www.lakewell.com/en/porsche/993 These folks offer direct replacement carpet sets and other restoration soft goods. I have not used them but they have become the go-to folks for carpeting for many.
  • https://www.beckerautosound.com Repair of the original radio and other audio components in our cars. They can even upgrade the original radio head to include features such as Bluetooth.
  • www.shapeways.com, I have not used this supplier but others have used their kits to fix loose seat rails for cars equipped with electric seats that have powered front-rear positioning.
  • JP Group Classic Porsche Parts, A Manufacturer of 993 Suspension & exhaust replacement parts' For these parts many owners are unaware that there is an aftermarket source alternative other than the dealer.  For example, the rubber strut hats and front lower control arms (A-Frame w/bushings) made by these folks are available through Import Warehouse Distributors at a significantly lower price than the dealer part. Their products can be sourced from multiple suppliers including eBay for some parts.

  • https://prekom.si/porsche-parts/porsche-993/  , I recently (2023) came across these folks who manufacture parts for our cars
sold by others under various brands. I am told if one is located in Europe one may be able to go direct to the source here for suspension-related parts.
  • https://caig.com/, These folks make specialized chemicals to clean, remove oxidation and lubricate electrical connections switches, encoders, and potentiometers.
These products in combination with CRC QD Electronic cleaner are very useful for resolving malfunctions in things like the rotary volume knob's function inside your radio, also useful to clean sensor connectors and most anything related to the terminations on the wiring harness in your car. Both products can be purchased on Amazon.com or an electrical
    supply house.
  • Performance Shock Inc These folks rebuild stuff including several of the major brands of Dampers and Strut units installed on our cars at a fraction of the cost of new replacements
  • Dual Metallising; If the finish on one of the reflectors in a headlight pod is damaged these folks can re-chrome the entire reflector. I have not used them but others have reported good results.

  • eBay; When looking for accessory aftermarket parts such as lighting or for original used parts that are expensive to source through dismantlers or are simply not available from others. Things such as the under-engine metal cabin heater system flapper valve boxes.

  • Recently I ran across a service in the UK that repairs and offers a reinforcement product for damaged liftpoints on a 993 or 964. He can be contacted through Facebook:
