All sorts of fun small suff you run into with a 993 or for that mater most air cooled 911

Minor inspection items:

High mounted tail light - Missing some illumination teeth, a common item.
The lamp housing is easily disassembled and if replacement bulbs are purchased from a non-automotive on-line bulb supplier it is inexpensive, <$10, to replace the entire set. This is a tabletop DIY soldering iron job and is very easy.

There seem to be lots of DIY discussions of replacing the bulbs with LEDs. In fact, there is a kit that includes the proper LED insert array for the lens to make the changeover a simple DIY project. I have resisted until now to go to leads for the high mounted light fixture, however, I will be adding a strobe effect to the stoplight as I believe it increases safety and the controller for this function only works with LEDs, not bulbs. If you are considering the LED conversion contact Tore at Bergvillfx.com. Seeing that the bulbs have a 10 year + service life it’s a personal decision as to if one wants to convert to LEDs.

Airbag light is on - In many cases this is a non-deployment-related airbag system error identified by the airbag warning light in the clock extinguishing a short while after the car is started. The error is easily cleared by using Durametric Diagnostic software to reset the light. If this does not work re-soldering the circuit board on the back of the clock solves this issue for some. The soldering is a tabletop DIY job.  See Appendix “B”:  “Airbag light fix experience”

High mounted stop light not working – This is a common electrical issue related to a failed connection where the wiring passes through the glass. An easy fix  See Appendix “C”: “High Mounted Cyclops light wire fix”
